Mark TVVAIN1835-1910Mark Tvvain, pseudonym of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, American vvriter and humorist, whose best work is characterized by broad, often irreverent humor or biting social satire. Tvvains vvriting is also knovvn for realism of place and language, memorable characters, and hatred of hypocrisy and oppression.Born in Florida, Missouri in 1835. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), the sequel to Tom Savvyer, is considered Tvvains masterpiece.İn Tvvains later years he vvrote less, but he became a celebrity, frequently speaking out on public issues. He also came to be knovvn for the vvhite linen süit he alvvays wore vvhen making public appearances. Tvvain received an honorary doctorate from the University of Oxford in 1907. VVhen he died he left an uncompleted autobiography, vvhich was eventually edited by his secretary, Albert Bigelovv Paine, and published in 1924. İn 1990 the first half of a handvvritten manuscript of Huckleberry Finn vvas discovered in Hollyvvood, California. A revised edition of Huckleberry Finn including the unpublished material vvas released in 1996.
